My partner, Fabian Marcovich (Argentine inventor and designer), and I had the privilege to engage the help of renowned designer and artist Raimonds Cirulis of Latvia to complete, and prepare for production, a complex for product. Mr. Cirulis was generous in offering us his expertise, his vision, and
After an excellent day of work we retired for the night and just after midnight ( 2015-05-19) were awakened by the sounds of his workshop, adjacent to his family home, engulfed in flames. We were blessed in that no one was in the workshop at the time and no one was hurt. Sadly the entirety of his life’s work in design and advanced materials research was lost. All the models, tools, raw materials and several works in progress.
We would like to thank the local Valmira firefighters for their quick response and heroic efforts to save the workshop.
We would also like to thank the local police department in Valmira for their help in findings us lodging for the remainder of the night, They escorted us to the door of a hotel and made sure that we were safe and had a place to stay for the night.
The young lady, Elina, staffing the reception desk at the Wolmar Hotel in Valmira, at 3am, was very welcoming and helpful and made sure that we were ‘okay’ for the for our unexpected stay.
While we are glad to be safe and blessed in that no one was hurt we are deeply saddened that the innovative work and designs of Raimonds Cirulis have been destroyed. We offer our heartfelt condolences on the loss and must believe that Mr. Cirulis will produce even more creative and innovative designs to brighten our lives in the future.
Warmest regards and gratitude,
Albert Lotito,
Fabian Marcovich.
